Kindness to ourselves

Kindness to ourselves

Never underestimate the power of kindness and most definitely never mistake kindness for weakness. In order to be kind you have to be strong. Strong enough to know who you are, what you believe in and have the strength to stand up for those beliefs.

Crucially before you can can even contemplate being kind to others you firstly have to be kind to yourself. This is not something that comes easily to everyone, however, it is the foundation of any act of compassion.  While learning to be loving and compassionate to ourselves may seem self indulgent or even selfish nothing could be further from the truth. You will be much better placed to help another if you yourself feel balanced, well nourished and rested.

No matter how busy and hectic your day becomes it is crucial to take a few moments out to calm your mind. Just five minutes spent meditating will reduce stress levels. By allowing mediation and mindfulness to become a regular part of your daily routine you will be able to stay calm and focused even in the most difficult of situations.

Simply taking the the time to consider what and how much you eat can be a life changing act of personal kindness. Replacing convenience foods with a balanced diet filled with nutrient dense natural foods will boost your immune system warding off illness and fatigue. It also will also stop your energy  levels from peaking and troughing throughout the day.

And last but not least never underestimate the value of sleep. While we sleep our bodies repair themselves, process the information our brains have assimilated throughout the course of the day and digest our food. Rest and recuperation leave us refreshed and ready to deal with the day ahead. Without it we are left tired and often ill tempered. Sleep deprivation is a known form of torture and definitely not one you should inflict upon yourself.

Eating and sleeping well plus calming the mind are simple acts of personal kindness available to us all. Once we have mastered these three simple steps of loving compassion for ourselves as individauls we are ready for a life filled with purpose. A life where we can be of valuable service to others.

We hope that you will find our blogs on lifestyle, diet and health inspiring and informative as well as a platform to be kind not only to yourself but to the world at large.
